The ultimate pairing of crispy fried chicken and sweet and spicy Hot Honey.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 1.5kg chicken pieces
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 cups buttermilk
- Neutral oil for frying
Flour Coating
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- Toss chicken in bow with black pepper, salt, paprika, white pepper and cayenne
- Stir in buttermilk until chicken is evenly coated, cover and refrigerate for 6 hours
- Combine flour coating ingredients in shallow dish
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in flour coating until fully covered, shake off excess and place on plate
- Heat oil in large pot (preferably dutch oven) to 175 C
- Add chicken pieces and fry for 10 minutes, then flip and fry for a further 10 to 15 minutes until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 74 C
- Transfer to cooling rack placed over a baking tray and let rest for 10 minutes
- Place on serving dish, drizzle with Hot Honey and enjoy!
